Places to visit in Mumbai to Leh Ladakh Tour:

Shanti Stupa

This enormous, hilltop Shanti Stupa, built by Japanese monks to promote world peace, has brightly coloured reliefs on its mid-levels and is topped by a spired white globe (smoking is prohibited here).

The most appealing feature is the breathtaking vista of Leh. Make the breathless 15-minute ascent around 5.30 p.m., when the city is still bathed in golden afternoon light and the steps up from Changspa are shaded.

Leh Palace

In 1553, work on the nine-story, dun-colored Leh Palace began. It was once the world's highest edifice and shows more than a passing resemblance to the Potala Palace in Lhasa, which was built by the Buddhist monarchs of Ladakh (Tibet). Only the palace prayer room gives any sense of prior grandeur, as the walls are mostly unpainted and a few interior portions are partially collapsed. Nonetheless, weaving your way through the maze of dark tunnels, hidden stairways, and homemade ladders to the rooftop for fantastic views of the city is a gentle thrill. Keep a torch handy and keep an eye out for holes in the floor.

Hall of Fame

It is well worth a visit for every Indian to feel a sense of utmost respect and commemorate the spirit of the Kargil War heroes, especially if you have not visited the Kargil War Memorial on the Srinagar - Leh Highway. This modest museum, about 1 km outside the airport terminal on the Spituk–Kargil road, features exhibits about Ladakhi culture and the Pakistan conflict.

Leh Bazaar

The most appealing part of Leh is the main bazaar, where you may sample the finest cuisines and shop for a range of accessories for your mother/sister/wifey/girl friend(s), as well as woollens for yourself and your family, or contact some travel agents for money conversion or tour/trek preparation. In reality, this is the only spot in Leh – Ladakh where you will find the majority of the hustle and bustle of life, and it may be the busiest portion of Ladakh.

Zorawar Fort

This fort was owned by General Zorawar Singh, who is known for his battles with the Chinese. He was even dubbed "Little Napoleon of India" by Europeans. This is close to the main market and is worth a visit if you're interested in history.

Datun Sahib

The Datun Sahib tree, which can be found at Leh Palace or right beyond the Jama Masjid in the Leh Main Baazar, is a religiously significant Meswak tree for the entire Leh - Ladakh region. It is supposed to be Guru Nanak ji's first ever tree, which he planted to bless the town.

Sindhu Ghat

A tranquil location where you may enjoy the Indus River's banks and relax in gorgeous surroundings. The river's sound soothes whatever nerves you may have after arriving at this location. If you want to enjoy a lazy afternoon, head down to Sindhu ghaat and unwind.

No special permit is necessary to see most of Ladakh, including Leh and Kargil towns, on a Leh Ladakh Package from Mumbai. Apart from that, all visitors to the Nubra Valley, Pangong Lake, and the Durbuk Block require a "Inner Line Permit" (ILP). Foreign nationals must also obtain permits to visit each of the above-mentioned places near to Pakistan's and China's borders (Line of Control).
