Yamunotri Dham

Yamunotri Dham, the first Dham on the yatra's path, is located in Yamunotri, where the sacred Yamuna River begins. It was called after Goddess Yamuna, Yama's twin sister (the God of death). A bath in the Yamuna river's sacred waters is claimed to cleanse one of all sins and keep one from dying prematurely. Sage Asit Muni is said to have resided in a nearby hermitage and bathed in both the Ganga and the Yamuna. When he became too old to travel to Gangotri, a stream of the Ganga began to pour across the steam of the Yamuna. The idol of Goddess Yamuna is located in the Yamunotri Dham in the shape of a black marble idol, and it is set against the backdrop of the Yamuna river, which flows down from one side of the temple, creating a breathtaking scene.

On the auspicious day of Akshaya Tritiya, the Yamunotri Temple opens. This usually occurs in the latter week of April or the first week of May. On the day of Deepawali, the Yamunotri temple always closes with a short ceremony.

Gangotri Dham

Gangothri Dham is where the Ganga originates. According to Hindu belief, the Torrent Ganga was born here when Lord Shiva decided to release the powerful river from the tresses of his hair. Gangothri Dham is the second of four shrines on the Chota Char Dham Route, dedicated to Goddess Ganga. Nepalese General Amar Singh Thapa laid the foundation for this temple. The Gangotri Glacier's sacred snout, Gaumukh, is where the mighty river begins its journey. This location is approximately 19 kilometres from Gangotri. Gangothri Dham is where the Ganga originates.

Kedarnath Dham

From Gaurikund, a 22-kilometer uphill journey leads to Kedarnath Dham. The pilgrims can use pony and manchan services to get to the structure. The Kedarnath Dham is one of the five places where Lord Shiva is said to live. Lord Shiva is referred to as 'Kedar' in the Vedas and Puranas. According to religious belief and holiness, Kedarnath is the home of Lord Shiva, who still resides in the form of a Linga. It's also the highest jyotirling on the planet. The temple is an antique stone structure on the Mandakini River's banks. It is thought to have been created by the Pandavas and renovated in the 8th century CE by Adi Sankara. This temple's vista against the snowy backdrop is breathtaking. The Dham of Kedarnath is unquestionably one of the most important in the yatra.

On the auspicious day of MahaShivaRatri, the pujari and temple management at Ukhimath temple set the date for the opening of the Kedarnath Temple. The Kadarnath temple closes the day after Deepawali (Bhaiyadooj) with a short and basic ceremony.

Badrinath Dham

Badrinath is revered by Lord Vishnu, particularly in his dual form of Nara-Narayana. Adi Shankracharya re-established Badrinath temple in the eighth century as part of his endeavour to revitalise Hinduism. The Badrinath Dham is located on the banks of the Alaknanda River and is surrounded by numerous historical and religious attractions. It's no surprise that Badrinath is one of the most visited shrines in the country, despite the tough travel there.

The old King of Tehri and Raj Purohit chose Basant Panchami as the day for the opening of Badrinath Temple. The auspicious day of Vijya Dashmi was chosen by Rawal to close the Badrinath temple (The Dusshera festival). The temple usually closes in the second week of November.
