Peer Ki Gali: At the distance of only 43Km from Shopian district head quarter and 44 Km from Bafliaz, in district Poonch, on Mughal road has offered you another busiest “Tourist Destination” called PEER KI GALI. Thousands of local people of the state from both the regions of Jammu and Kashmir visit this place daily , despite the lack of all basic facilities. Peer Ki Gali is situated in the middle of Mughal road. It is not only the tourist destination, but a central meeting point for the people of South Kashmir area from Kashmir side and Poonch and Rajouri districts. The locals belonging to South Kashmir area and Poonch Rajouri districts organize joint picnics nowadays at this central tourist spot.
This is not only a beautiful and picturesque tourist spot, Peer Ki Gali, is also known for famous shrine located in the area in the name of great Sufi saint Sheikh Ahmed Karim (RA) who had stayed for some time at this place while crossing towards Kashmir valley through Mughal road.
It is not only Peer Ki Gali, which has become the attraction of tourists as new destination, the complete 43 Kms stretch of Mughal Road from Shopian to Peer Ki Gali, offers various tourist spots, like Dubijan, Heerpura, Aliaaabad Sarai,and Doongi Marg. While from Poonch side, Chatta Pani is the latest tourist spot which competes with Sonamarg due to its river, glaciers and meadows. As the area has been declared the rich wild life habitation, the government agencies and other tourist related private agencies are prevented to create any infrastructure there.
